Fergie better than a No.2?

Published by alrightcoff at 7:25 am under Uncategorized Edit This

“Fifty years of Alex” was what I was subjected to when I open the Scottish Daily Mail yesterday.

The fresh face youngster made his football debut playing for Queens Park in Scottish Division Two on November 15 1958.

We had to wait 18 years until he embarked on a more successful career… Management. East Stirlingshire was his first port of call; followed by St Mirren and Aberdeen, after a brief spell as Scotland manager he joined Manchester United.

There comes a time when someone has spent numerous years in the same employment that they become untouchable, people seem to like them no matter what, the word “genius” gets thrashed about at every thing they do.

So after 50 years in the business and 29 trophies under his belt, can we say Sir Alex Ferguson has become an untouchable?

Before you answer, consider the squad at united at the moment, some would say it is the best squad of players that ANYONE has. Last season United’s assault on the league was seconded to none; they played with really style and vigour. Although there have been shades of that form seen in some games this term, the reality is 8 points, 8 points from the top of the league, with the best squad in the world.

Some would say the reason for the disappointing league possion is because of the injury to Ronaldo and the fact he is not 100% fit yet. Some would say it’s because the style of play has had to change in order to fit Berbertov in to the system. But I would say it’s because Ferguson has had to do without the help of Carlos Queiroz, who has been the real man behind the resent success at United .Its no coincidence that since he left to be Portugal manger things have not gone the way it was supposed to.

Can we say that Fergie is untouchable? Well I think we will find out at the end of the season until then the jury’s is out!!!
